On the seventh of July, we Japanese celebrate Tanabata たなばた, Star Festival in Japan.
We write our wishes on colorful strips of paper, called たんざく,
and hung them on bamboo.
We also hung some paper decorations.
Tanabata is based on a story about a couple, called おりひめ and ひこぼし.
I will read Tanabata’s story for you in Japanese and English translation.
